Focus Area Overview
Violence in the home and violence in war are not separate; they’re sustained by the same systems of patriarchy, control, and militarism. WILPF recognizes that you can’t end war abroad while ignoring violence at home. Domestic violence is a peace issue, rooted in power imbalances that mirror and reinforce global militarism. We advocate for survivors, challenge systems that enable abuse, and connect the personal to the political.
Domestic Prisoners of War Issue Committee
The Domestic Prisoners of War Issue Committee advances survivor-centered, reparative justice by challenging harmful policies and addressing the systemic impacts of domestic violence, affirming that peace begins at home. Members meet monthly.
