Washington, D.C.- On June 22, five members of Congress gathered at a press conference in front of the Capitol. Each called on the United States government to sign and ratify the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW).

Judy Adams and Cherrill Spencer set up tables, handed out flyers, and sparked conversation at Farmers Markets in various towns to protest the war in Ukraine and bring attention to WILPF’s DISARM and anti-war efforts. They greeted market shoppers with informative flyers and made personal connections while raising awareness and taking a stand for peace.

WILPF Phoenix plans a thoughtful day of remembrance and activism for the anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, to be held on August 9th. Together WILPFers will learn more about this historic event, hear stories from survivors, and make anti-nuclear war petitions to distribute along with beautiful Japanese peace cranes.

First sailed by Quakers in the 1950s in an effort to disrupt nuclear weapons tests, the organization Veterans for Peace now uses Golden Rule to run sailing events educating the public about the prevention of nuclear war.
