WOMEN’S INTERNATIONAL LEAGUE FOR PEACE & FREEDOM UNITED STATES SECTION THIRTY-SECOND TRIENNIAL CONGRESS DETROIT, MICHIGAN August 3, 2014

Resolution passed unanimously by voice vote

WHEREAS, the School of the Americas Watch (SOA Watch) this year was denied a permit for the 25th Anniversary Vigil at Fort Benning, GA; Whereas this violates the First Amendment rights of the SOA Watch members to protest the school that teaches murder and torture by nations in the developing world; Whereas many WILPF members have been part of the protest over the years; Therefore let it be resolved that WILPF members stand in solidarity with SOA Watch and support their right to organize and speak truth to power, and Let it be further resolved that WILPF US demands that this ban be lifted.
