US Section board officers — secretary, program co-chair, development chair, at-large member to serve on 2015 board.  Deadlines November 23 and 30. 

US National Board
Applications and nominations now being accepted for the 2015 term election cycle

Dear Members:

The 2015 Board Term election cycle is in full swing and you are heartily encouraged to apply (deadline 11/30/14 – see below) for a position yourself or to nominate (deadline 11/23/14 – see below) someone you think would be a great candidate!

2015 US Section Open Positions
Elected by general membership ballot

  • Secretary – one of our three corporate officers and not a Board standing committee chair, for a three-year regular term
  • Program Committee Chair – one of two chairs for this Board standing committee, for a three-year regular term
  • At-large Board Member – (i.e., not a Board standing committee chair), for a three-year regular term
  • Development Committee Chair – replacement position for this Board standing committee, to fill the last year of the inaugural transition term
  • Application for service on 2015 Term National Board – Deadline is 11/30/14
  • Nomination of members to be invited to apply to candidacy for service on 2015 term National Board – deadline is 11/23/14
  • Recommendation of applicants for service on 2015 term national board– deadline is 11/30/14
  • Checklist and Overview of Duties of Board Members with excerpts from our published bylaws providing ideas of job duties for some of the positions

We have been notifying members of this election for many months and know that many members have expressed interest in service – what a great thing!

Deadlines
Here are the deadlines, and some of them are a rapidly approaching

  • 11/23/14  Sunday, 11 pm in every time zone via email timestamp DEADLINE for submitting nominations of members to be invited to apply for board positions
  • 11/30/14 Sunday, 11 pm in every time zone via email timestamp DEADLINE for submitting applications by members applying for board positions
  • 11/30/14 Sunday, 11 pm in every time zone via email timestamp DEADLINE for submitting recommendations of members applying for board positions (each nomination that results in a member’s applying after having been nominated by a nominator means that the applicant already has a recommendation in place from that reference as of the earlier 11/23 deadline for nominations, so the applicant only needs one more recommendation to be submitted by another recommender by 11/30)
  • Jan 2015 Ballots mailed via first-class postage and a notice to members will be provided to everyone of the exact date
  • 2/9/15 Monday, DEADLINE, ballot postmark date required for ballot to be timely
  • 2/22/15  Sunday, ballot final tally by counting branch (TBD*) and information given to Nominating Committee and President; all candidates are contacted
  • 2/23/15 Monday, election results publicized – all Board members notified, and eNews to all members and published to website
  • 2/24/15 Tuesday, BOARD MEETING VIA TELEPHONE CONFERENCE – all new Board members will be expected to join all members of the 2015 Term Board, and to participate on this call and be seated as members of the 2015 Term Board.

*We will be looking for branches who would like to help us by undertaking the ballot counting. Our grateful thanks to Detroit branch for having so well handled this important work for us in 2012 and again in 2014!
