Greetings from WILPF US CCS!

Thank you to everyone who collaborated on the Snow Queen “Tamara Lorincz-Inspired” painting suggestions and contributed to additional actions beyond this single painting, helping to provide visibility and PR assistance through our new CCS Action Group at WILPF US. We are fully integrating the arts into our social activism at the national level, and anyone interested is welcome to join. To join the CCS E-group e-list, email me at Scifi200111@gmail.com.

The CCS Collaborative Action Team focuses on Communications Access, Culture(s)/The Arts, and Sensitization. Explore our exciting array of activism through the arts via our new group list.

Inspired by the moral courage of this Canadian WILPFer, Gloria McMillan took action when she learned about Tamara Lorincz’s trip to St. Petersburg, Russia, for a peace and ecology conference. Gloria informed the CCS Collaborative Action Team and began a painting of The Snow Queen for this CCS project. Our CCS team is supporting Tamara in both tangible and intangible ways to help her gain visibility within WILPF US.

Tamara attended several conferences and spoke at schools in both St. Petersburg and Moscow in late September. Most notably, she participated in The Peace, Nature, Cooperation in the Baltic and Arctic Regions Conference held in St. Petersburg on September 21-22, 2024. For more details on her journey and accomplishments, read Tamara’s complete report.

As members of the new WILPF US CCS Action Group, we are proud to collaborate and support member initiatives. Jane Addams and the women who convened at The Hague in 1915 knew it was hopeless to “leave it to the men” to stop arming themselves to the teeth in 1914. Tamara’s actions today reflect the same courage that those 1,200 women showed when they gathered at The Hague. Our sisters in the north are leading inspiring efforts, and CCS is excited to highlight their achievements. We encourage you to share this news and stay inspired.

Look for more updates from the CCS Working Group of WILPF US—and stay strong!
