For 110 years, WILPF has been shaped by the wisdom and dedication of its members. Each brings something unique and essential—energy, skills, experience, and their own distinctive approach to advancing peace and justice in their communities. Together, these individual contributions weave the vibrant tapestry of WILPF’s legacy. This month, Heather Vogler shares her story of activism with WILPF.

1. Name: Heather Vogler

2. City and state: Mesa, Arizona

3. WILPF member since: Fall 2025

4. WILPF value most alive in my activism: Community organizing. I was getting downtrodden about all the advocacy work that has to be done, until I realized that I don’t have to do it alone! If I get the people around me involved, we have a lot more force in solving these issues than I would alone. The true advocacy power comes from getting us to all work together!

5. Top issue I’m focused on right now and why: I am invested in voting reform, such as Ranked Choice Voting (RCV)! If we really want to enact change and get it to stick, we need to be able to have our voices heard. In our two-party system where we really only choose which of the two options we hate the least, we don’t get the voice that we deserve. But with Ranked Choice Voting and Proportional Representation, everyone’s voices can be heard, and we can truly enact the change we need!

6. My favorite memory connected to WILPF: It has been really cool seeing everyone’s enthusiasm about voting reform. People were excited about the project when I proposed it, and more people have joined because they are eager to push for RCV. I’m not usually great at organizing people, so this is great practice and a great boost of confidence.

7. One thing that brings me joy or inspiration to act for peace in these times: All times require fighting for peace until we achieve it! Seeing everyone coming together to fight for good causes, all the solidarity and patriotism I saw at No Kings Day—I know we can make a big difference as we stand together!
