4. WILPF value most alive in my activism (values: courageous truth-telling, sisterhood & solidarity, community organizing, credible voices, inclusive feminism): Sisterhood & solidarity. Today, women all over the world—from the Philippines to Cuba to the US—are courageously standing up to fascist attacks and fighting for democracy.
5. Top issue I’m focused on right now and why: I am currently focused on building the broadest popular front to oppose the implementation of Project 2025. Our liberal democracy in the US is being dismantled quickly, with communities of color, women, and poor people bearing a disproportionate impact.
6. My favorite memory connected to WILPF: My favorite memory connected to WILPF is from the 1980s, when I worked alongside the many passionate WILPF women in Seattle on a range of issues, especially those affecting communities of color. These women brought so much energy and a deeply political outlook to their work. They were an amazing example of what feminist leadership looks like. Without them, I’m not sure I would be the feminist I am today, working in solidarity with women around the world for peace.
7. One thing that brings me joy or inspiration to act for peace in these times: One thing that inspires me is the Cuban women I work with, including the women leaders of the Federation of Cuban Women. These women inspire my own vision, energy, and perseverance in my work to change US foreign policy—particularly toward Cuba. Despite the profound human suffering that US policy has caused the Cuban people, these women persevere in their efforts to create a society that prioritizes human rights and peace.
