1. Name: Anjali Tallapragada
2. City and state: New York, NY
3. WILPF member since: November 2025
4. WILPF value most alive in my activism (values: courageous truth-telling, sisterhood & solidarity, community organizing, credible voices, inclusive feminism): Sisterhood and solidarity, along with credible voices. My work focuses on creating space for women, especially women of color, to speak and be heard without being filtered or over-explained. We underestimate how powerful it is to simply listen and make space with an open mind. It helps us make authentic connections and communities.

5. Top issue I’m focused on right now and why: Right now, I’m focused on women of color in the US through my research initiative, Brown Girl Project. It’s really about conversations and understanding how people experience their identities day to day. I kept noticing that many women have similar experiences but don’t always name them or fully process them. Creating space for that reflection and connection feels really important to me.
6. My favorite memory connected to WILPF: Honestly, attending various meetings and events. Just being around so many women doing such different kinds of work but who care about similar things. It’s rare to be in spaces where people are both thoughtful and actually doing something. I’ve learned a lot just from being in conversation with people and seeing how everyone approaches their work differently.
7. One thing that brings me joy or inspiration to act for peace in these times:
Seeing what happens when people feel comfortable enough to open up. Those moments where someone starts connecting the dots in their own story or realizes they’re not alone. It reminds me that even small spaces and conversations can actually shift how people see themselves.
