While billionaires amass enormous unearned wealth through financial gains and land speculation, communities continue to struggle to access housing, health care, and other basic needs. This webinar will explore how shifting our tax system—taxing what they take from the commons—can fund the foundations of a truly peaceful society.

The webinar will explore:

  • Why billionaire wealth is largely unearned—and what that means for democracy.
  • The history of privatizing land and resources, “the commons,” and the historic enclosure of the commons.
  • Land value taxation as a tool for affordable housing and shared prosperity—and real-world examples of how it can work.
  • The link between economic inequality, militarism, and the peace we seek.

Beginning with a look at the history of land and resource privatization, and moving through the entrenchment of wealth at great human cost, this webinar will offer concrete solutions for transforming our tax system and honoring the sacred value of land and water. Our speaker will connect these issues and present actionable solutions we can advocate for together.
